About the position

The position involves assisting in the planning, coordination, and promotion of the student pitch event 'Macomb Innovates 2026' scheduled for April 22nd, 2026. This role is designed for current students at Macomb Community College who are looking to gain experience in event planning and promotion while fulfilling their work-study requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach for promotional material
  • Share posters and announcements of events across campus in classrooms, with staff, and with other students
  • Conduct regular communications with writers, authors, and designers, and work with editorial supervisors and mentors to create a polished program
  • Learn collaboration protocols for evaluating and ranking submissions and communicating acceptances and rejections to writers and designers
  • Carefully review and proofread revised submissions and communicate with writers and designers throughout the revision process
  • Print out necessary badges, certificates, and awards for the event and assemble drawstring bags and gift bags
  • Conduct research for the CIE and BIT departments
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be a current student at Macomb Community College taking at least 6 credit hours
  • Must currently have a work-study award given by Financial Aid
  • Familiarity with the FAFSA application process
  • Experience and interest in reading, editing, and writing for any audience (health, engineering, business, humanities, etc.)
  • Experience working with multimodal work is highly valued
