About the position
The Collector, also known as the Payment Resolution Specialist, is responsible for collecting payments and managing potential losses for the Credit Union. This role involves contacting members with delinquent loans, arranging repayment schedules, and working collaboratively with other departments to resolve delinquencies. The position is hybrid, based in Portsmouth, NH, and emphasizes the importance of enriching the lives of members, employees, and communities.
Responsibilities
- Contact members and co-members with delinquent loans to arrange suitable repayment schedules.
- Perform timely follow-ups on all types of loans assigned.
- Research and investigate possible solutions to resolve problems with members.
- Code member's accounts to alert other departments of delinquent loans and collection issues.
- Promote credit union services to members.
- Perform skip tracing as required.
- Record actions, conversations, and recommendations in the collection history notes.
- Consult with members requesting extensions and refinancing, preparing necessary documentation and referring to management with recommendations.
- Work with other departments to resolve delinquencies and prevent future problems.
- Coordinate the closing of approved collection-initiated refinances and ensure necessary paperwork is complete.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role or related business field.
- Previous experience in collections or loan processing is desirable.
- Prior sales experience is a plus.
