About the position

The Social Caseworker B - Kinship Certification Caseworker on the Collaborative Foster Care Program (CFCP) Team is a professional level social casework position responsible for the ongoing supervision, engagement, screening, ongoing assessment, and certification of kinship foster care providers. This role is integral to promoting the safety, independence, and stability of individuals and families through a family-centered approach, ensuring compliance with kinship care policies and providing support to families caring for children in kinship care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assess certified kin homes to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
  • Conduct home study updates and complete yearly assessments for kinship foster care providers.
  • Monitor and support kinship referrals and assist families in the certification process.
  • Collaborate with primary caseworkers and other stakeholders to provide quality documentation and support.
  • Assist in the recruitment, retention, and training for the Collaborative Foster Care Program.
  • Conduct joint home visits with primary caseworkers and kin care providers.
  • Prepare and present families to the program's Certification Review Team for approval.
  • Provide backup coverage for placement desk and other primary responsibilities as needed.
  • Attend family meetings and group supervisions as required.
  • Conduct after-hours visits to meet the needs of foster and kin families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a human behavioral science field with relevant coursework and one year of professional experience in casework or human services.
  • Master's degree in social work or a human behavioral science field with no experience required.
  • Knowledge of casework principles and methods related to child development and parenting.
  • Skills in interviewing techniques, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and make quick decisions.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with children in a professional or volunteer capacity.
  • Knowledge of community resources related to child protection issues.
  • Experience in domestic violence case management or as a victim's advocate.
