About the position

The Coding Quality Audit Reviewer is responsible for conducting internal quality assessments of coding practices within the Health Information Management Service Center (HSC). This role ensures compliance with national coding guidelines and company policies, aiming to enhance the accuracy and integrity of patient data, which is crucial for appropriate reimbursement. The position involves leading quality reviews, maintaining productivity and accuracy standards, and providing feedback to improve coding practices and physician documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, coordinates, and performs quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding across multiple HSCs.
  • Ensures adherence of HSC coding staff to coding guidelines and policies.
  • Applies expert-level knowledge of medical coding practices and concepts.
  • Participates in special reviews or projects as needed.
  • Maintains or exceeds 95% productivity standards.
  • Maintains or exceeds 95% accuracy in coding reviews.
  • Reviews all official data quality standards, coding guidelines, and clinical resources to ensure current knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or Health Information Technology (HIT) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in acute care inpatient and outpatient coding required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' coding auditing or monitoring experience strongly preferred.
  • RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DRG Validation/Auditing.
  • Familiarity with coding policies and procedures.
