About The Position

St. Louis Catholic School is seeking coaches that fulfill the mission of the Catholic school and church by assisting as head coaches in all aspects of team management and player development. This role involves assisting with training sessions, providing skill instruction, and helping to create a positive team environment. Coaching positions are seasonal and paid by stipend. Positions are available on an as-needed basis and may be available for the following athletic team offerings: Cross-County, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Track, Tennis, Golf.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Complete Play Like a Champion - Coaches' Workshop
  • Completion of various training(s) including but not limited to, Concussion Training and Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
  • Knowledge of adolescent physical development and sport skills and regulations.
  • Expertise, knowledge, and competency in fundamentals of the sport.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively as a part of a coaching team.
  • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including early morning, evenings, and weekends.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Able to work well with others in the school community.
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in motivating and engaging student-athletes.
  • Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format.
  • Skill in job appropriate app technology - TeamSnap.
  • Skill in critical thinking and planning.

Responsibilities

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic Education and the mission of the school and church.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Support and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school, parish, and diocese.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school and church matters.
  • Model professional conduct and sensible sportsmanship while instilling these characteristics within team members.
  • Teach essential safety skills and strategies to student-athletes; monitor safety compliance including heat and extreme weather guidelines.
  • Follow school and CAPPS policies regarding academic eligibility, safety guidelines, and transportation rules.
  • Instruct athletes about proper strategy, skills, and rules of the game.
  • Use approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and support academic programming.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required by the athletic director.
  • Perform other related tasks and attend meetings as assigned.
