About the position
The Girls Assistant Basketball Coach at Incline High School is responsible for coaching and advising students in the Washoe County School District. This role requires adherence to high standards of coaching practices, focusing on injury prevention and safety. The coach will develop rapport with students, maintain communication with school administration, and ensure the overall health and welfare of the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop rapport with students and provide sound leadership.
- Exemplify good sportsmanship and apply discipline fairly and positively.
- Maintain cooperation with the Principal and/or Athletic Director and other staff.
- Keep the Principal and/or Athletic Director informed about the program, including trips and games.
- Develop a system for accountability and protection of equipment.
- Foster good public relations within the school and community.
- Attend contests and practice sessions.
- Complete reports evaluating the activity and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a high school diploma; preferred candidates are teachers under contract with Washoe County School District.
- Some experience as a coach/advisor in basketball or a similar activity.
- Knowledge of rules, theory, and regulations related to basketball.
Nice-to-haves
- Possession of a valid Nevada Teaching Certificate is desirable.
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required for coaches.
