About the position
The Alpine Assistant Ski Coach at Incline High School is responsible for coaching students in skiing, ensuring adherence to safety practices, and promoting good sportsmanship. The role involves developing rapport with students, maintaining communication with school administration, and overseeing the general health and welfare of the team. The coach will also be involved in organizing practices, attending contests, and evaluating the program for improvements.
Responsibilities
- Develop rapport with students and provide sound leadership.
- Be an example of good sportsmanship and apply discipline fairly.
- Maintain cooperation with the Principal and/or Athletic Director.
- Keep the Principal and/or Athletic Director informed about the program, including trips and games.
- Develop a system for accountability and protection of equipment.
- Foster good public relations in the school and community.
- Attend contests and practice sessions.
- Complete reports evaluating the activity and make recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a high school diploma; preferred candidates are teachers under contract with Washoe County School District.
- Some experience participating in and/or functioning as a coach/advisor in skiing.
Nice-to-haves
- Possession of a valid Nevada Teaching Certificate is desirable.
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is required for coaches/advisors involved in athletic activities.

- Compensation based on a stipend according to the Extended Day Duty Scale negotiated with the Washoe County Teachers Association.
