About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled CNC Shop Supervisor for their 2nd shift operations. The role involves overseeing day-to-day department operations, managing employees, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC operations, leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in CNC programming, CNC operation, and machining, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, guide, and develop team members to achieve individual and collective goals.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent and active presence on the shop floor, spending approximately 2/3 of the shift overseeing operations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with shop employees, office staff, supervisors, managers, and executives.
  • Able to adjust to changing priorities and unexpected challenges while maintaining productivity and focus.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work well with others and foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, with a demonstrated ability to promote and enforce safety standards and practices.
  • Proficiency in performance management processes, including creating plans of action and conducting employee evaluations.
  • Highly detail-oriented, ensuring quality and precision in all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant software.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively throughout the shift.
  • Average math skills, with the ability to read and comprehend written instructions in English and complete logs, documents, and reports accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Hyundai, Mori, Yugi, HAAS CNC machines.

Responsibilities

  • Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with time-keeping and performance management procedures.
  • Oversee employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support team development and productivity.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees, as well as provide ongoing education and skill development for the team.
  • Expedite and prioritize shop orders through the department to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Ensure the team maintains machines and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner, addressing safety concerns promptly.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Address and resolve production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions to operations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.
