Requirements

  • Knowledge of calipers, gauges, and other required measuring tools.
  • Strong proficiency in basic math.
  • Ability to accurately document machining procedures.
  • Familiarity with metals, part-holding fixtures, and lathe/mill tooling.
  • Basic oral communication skills and the ability to read, comprehend, and complete logs and reports in English.
  • Ability to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
  • Availability to work scheduled hours and adhere to all company policies, including timekeeping.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment and stand for an entire shift.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, materials, and general mechanical principles.
  • Eagerness to be trained and a desire to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Okuma, Mazak, and Mori lathe machines

Responsibilities

  • Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
  • Optimize setup times, improve productivity, maintain offsets, and maximize machine utilization.
  • Read and understand blueprints and route instructions.
  • Apply expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Troubleshoot programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Follow in-process part inspection protocols and report non-conformance issues to the Supervisor/Lead.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, managers, production control, and quality personnel to resolve quality concerns.
  • Work safely and consistently wear required PPE throughout the shift.
  • Record and document issues for a seamless shift transition.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and document findings.
