About the position

As a CNC Machinist at Aerotek, you will be responsible for operating various machines, interpreting blueprints, and utilizing measuring instruments to ensure precision in manufacturing. The role involves working primarily with mills and lathes, particularly focusing on Mazaks and Mazatrol systems. While setup experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory for all positions. The job emphasizes maintaining quality and efficiency in production while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines, read blueprints, and use measuring instruments.
  • Receive work orders and run assigned machines.
  • For Operator level: Load/unload parts, check parts, and report any issues to the setup person.
  • For Machinist level: Set up machines, load programs, ensure dimensional accuracy, machine first piece, and check parts.
  • Maintain records of parts run, scrap count, and tool breaks.
  • Meet performance metrics for run time and parts per hour with support and training from leads.
  • Notify team lead of any issues and communicate effectively.
  • Complete and set up multiple work orders per day as needed.
  • Check for tool wear, replace tools as needed, and adjust dimensions to avoid scrap.
  • Operate machines with G&M code, Fanuc controls, and mostly 3-4 axis mills and lathes.
  • Hold tolerances between +/- .2 and +/- .0005, working mostly with steel and aluminum.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience running CNC machines for Operator level.
  • Ideally 2+ years of CNC experience and setup for Machinist level.
  • Proficiency with standard measuring tools such as micrometers, drop gauges, and indicators.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • CMM experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and attendance.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Positive attitude and aptitude for learning.
