About the position
The CNC Machinist I position at ATEC INC involves operating CNC machines to produce high-quality products while adhering to strict quality standards. The role requires following detailed instructions, validating machine programs, and ensuring that all machining processes meet dimensional and surface finish requirements. This position may also involve temporary assignments to various facilities to support operations.
Responsibilities
- Follow detailed work instructions to set up and operate CNC machines.
- Validate machine programs and work instructions before machining.
- Select tooling, holding fixtures, and accessories for CNC machine operation.
- Determine machine reference points and tooling offsets, entering them into machine control.
- Set up and run CNC machine for first article to prove out program and setup instructions.
- Notify the programmer of any needed changes to program or setup instructions.
- Process remaining parts while conducting constant checks and inspections for quality assurance.
- Read and interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Use various measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial bore gauges.
- Perform deburring, tapping, and polishing to required dimensions and surface finishes.
- Participate in AS9100/ISO training and cooperate with auditors.
Requirements
- One to two years of technical or vocational college or 5+ years of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Experience with Live Tool Lathe and aerospace work.
