About The Position

PGI is a privately held company, established in 1996. We are a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive industry. Our focus is on designing, manufacturing and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports and specialty filter markets. Our supply chain network now branches across the Pacific and into South America. The Job Purpose is to set-up, operate and check products to required specifications on all necessary equipment. May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic communication skills to receive and convey information concerning problems encountered while performing job duties and to provide assistance to fabrication and tool & die department personnel.
  • In-person interaction with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Perform advanced shop math functions.
  • Learn and comprehend standard operating procedures, quality standards and tooling techniques.
  • Read and write to access information on the computer, complete required paperwork, and interpret documents.
  • Distinguish between various items for proper length, width, shape, color and other characteristics.
  • Visual abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.
  • Hand/eye coordination to operate precision equipment, use hand tools and to operate various gauges and measuring devices.
  • Stand, squat, kneel and bend for long periods of time regularly.
  • Move between various work stations frequently.
  • Push/pull and reach with hands and arms frequently.
  • Flexibility to safely position body in unique positions to move and position tooling.
  • Frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret various precision measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in all CNC machining operations: grinders, mills, and lathes.
  • Advanced machining training/experience equivalent to two year degree in tool & die.
  • Dependability: Maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct.
  • Work any shift and overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with blanking, progressive and transfer dies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets complicated drawings and calculates critical dimensions to determine construction specifications.
  • Create, edit and/or retrieve CNC programs from system files and execute.
  • Set-up and operate machines in accordance with process sheets and any other required paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.).
  • Produce and verify quality parts in a safe and efficient manner to required specifications.
  • Monitor and make the correct process changes for maximizing efficiency of process.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process concerns and recommend improvements to the process when needed.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Identify set-up reduction opportunities and Lean process opportunities and communicate to supervision.
  • Performs regular safety inspections of equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Ensures assigned preventative maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Cleans equipment and performs general housekeeping tasks, keeping work area clean and organized.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
