About The Position

The CNC Cell Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role involves loading and unloading parts, changing tools, making minor machine adjustments, and assisting with machine setups. The operator will also be responsible for measuring parts, labeling work, and logging daily progress in the ERP system. Strong teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for this position.

Requirements

  • Basic math skills, including decimals, the metric system, and the Cartesian coordinate system (X, Y, Z grids).
  • Basic computer skills for information input and system navigation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience reading blueprints and working with quality/gaging systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and previous CNC machining experience.
  • Ability to stand or remain in one area for long periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, type, and write during the shift.
  • Ability to lift parts weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Ability to work well in teams.
  • Commitment to following all safety rules and working safely around factory equipment.
  • Willingness to complete all required job training and follow company policies.
  • Ability to keep company and shop information confidential.

Responsibilities

  • Load raw cast iron materials into CNC machines and remove finished parts.
  • Replace worn-out cutting tools as needed.
  • Make minor machine adjustments to maintain part size accuracy.
  • Assist the Cell Technician with machine setups for new jobs.
  • Inspect parts using gauges and record measurement data.
  • Tag and identify all parts for accurate inventory.
  • Enter daily job and labor hours into the computer system (ERP).
  • Understand work flow to ensure production stays on schedule.
  • Report any safety, quality, or speed issues to the Technician immediately.
  • Lift and move parts weighing up to 40 pounds throughout the 12-hour day.
  • Keep the work area organized, tidy, and safe.
