About the position
The Nursing Assistant (NA) position at Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, IA, is a part-time role focused on providing compassionate, resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. The NA will assist residents with daily living activities, support their health care needs, and ensure a positive living environment under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This role is integral to the nursing team, emphasizing infection control, documentation, and communication of residents' conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents.
- Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and other personal care activities.
- Obtain and record vital signs and document resident interactions and care outcomes.
- Communicate changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse.
- Assist with food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
- Aid in transferring, repositioning, and walking residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Participate in wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
- Complete housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas.
- Assist providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required within four months of starting the position.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits.
