About the position

The CMM Programmer/Operator at Signicast is responsible for programming and operating the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to conduct layout inspections of production parts. This role emphasizes safety, compliance with quality standards, and effective communication with team members. The position requires proficiency in programming languages such as Zeiss Calypso and PC-DMIS, as well as the ability to generate detailed inspection reports and perform calibrations on measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Program the CMM using Zeiss Calypso and PCDMIS programming language based on part drawings or CAD models.
• Provide accurate, detailed reports of inspections on samples of castings and machined parts using Calypso, PCDMIS, and MS Excel templates.
• Perform calibrations on measurement and test equipment.
• Conduct required statistical process control (SPC) measurements and update SPC records.
• Calibrate simple gages used with traceable standards.
• Request quotes and submit purchase requests for external calibration services.
• Use Gage Tracker software to record the calibration status of all gages and notify employees when gages are due for calibration.
• Perform inspections as required by supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience with PC-DMIS and coordinate measuring machines.
• 5 years of inspection or layout experience, with 1 year in quality inspection or calibration.
• Certified Calibration Technician or Certified Quality Technician certificate preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, CAD, and quality inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret complex documents and programming languages.
• Effective communication skills to share information and solve problems.
