About the position

The Cloud Systems Engineer is a technical professional responsible for managing IT systems across various environments, including server, hardware, software, network, and cloud. This role involves complex problem resolution, system administration, and project management, ensuring the security and effective operation of IT services. The engineer will provide advanced support for desktop, server, and network issues while staying current with industry trends to implement potential technology improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in system hardware, software, and network.
  • Stay current with industry trends for potential technology improvements.
  • Oversee security for network, physical devices, and data centers.
  • Coordinate ISP vendor communications for Internet/Intranet access issues.
  • Design and manage on-premises, hosted, and cloud solutions.
  • Develop network architectures that support scaling and integration.
  • Assist with long-term planning for network, server, and cloud systems.
  • Oversee cloud technology maintenance and plan for system upgrades.
  • Provide on-site support for network installations.
  • Oversee daily operations of network, server, and cloud environments.
  • Maintain vendor certifications for network hardware and software.
  • Coordinate remote access and system interoperability with other units.
  • Manage Azure storage and perform patching and updates.
  • Support hardware installations and system backups.
  • Maintain data security, virtualization, and network switching systems.
  • Administer firewall and network switch platforms for security compliance.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, resources, and team assignments.
  • Procure necessary technology for project execution.
  • Use project management tools to organize tasks and report on progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant IT experience, including system administration in virtual and cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., AWS), virtualization (e.g., VMware), and backup solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in Windows OS, DNS, Azure AD, and network security.
  • Technical skills in networking (TCP/IP), cloud services (Office365, Azure), virtualization, and security.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python is an advantage.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, and switches.
