Cloud Support Engineer (AWS/Azure)

The Vanguard GroupWayne, PA
Hybrid

About The Position

Vanguard is on a mission to work for the long-term financial wellbeing of its clients and lead through products and services that transform clients' lives. This role is for a Cloud Support Engineer who will design, build, and support cloud-based integration and data transmission solutions using AWS services and modern development practices. The engineer will provide intermediate-level Data Transmission Services (DTS), including setup, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of external data transmissions for business clients. The role involves configuring new transmissions and modifying existing ones using multiple protocols and file-handling mechanisms. The engineer will diagnose, debug, and resolve transmission issues and incidents, ensuring timely restoration of service in line with established service level objectives. They will also escalate and review complex technical issues with Senior Engineers and Leadership as required. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining automation, tooling, and services that enable secure and reliable data exchange with external partners, implementing solutions using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, and modernizing legacy MFT and batch-based integrations toward API-driven, event-based, and serverless patterns. Collaboration with internal application teams, security, networking, business, and external partners is key to designing optimal integration architectures. The engineer will support production data transmission environments, including participation in an on-call support rotation to maintain the availability and stability of critical transmission services and supporting platforms. Adherence to established DTS policies, standards, and operating procedures, and contribution to the creation, review, and enhancement of documentation and runbooks are expected. The role also includes contributing to architectural discussions, technical documentation, and coding standards, ensuring solutions meet Vanguard security, risk, and compliance requirements, and actively participating in modernization initiatives and proof-of-concepts aligned to Vanguard’s Technology strategy. Special projects and other duties as assigned are also part of the role. Vanguard has implemented a hybrid working model for the majority of its crew members, designed to capture the benefits of enhanced flexibility while enabling in-person learning, collaboration, and connection.
