About The Position

Vanguard is seeking a Cloud Support Engineer with expertise in AWS/Azure to join their team. This role focuses on designing, building, and supporting cloud-based integration and data transmission solutions. The engineer will provide intermediate-level Data Transmission Services (DTS), including setup, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of external data transmissions for business clients. The position involves configuring and modifying transmissions using multiple protocols and file-handling mechanisms, diagnosing and resolving transmission issues to meet service level objectives, and escalating complex technical issues. A key aspect of the role is developing and maintaining automation, tooling, and services for secure and reliable data exchange, implementing solutions using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines, and modernizing legacy integrations towards API-driven patterns. Collaboration with internal teams, security, networking, business, and external partners is essential for designing optimal integration architectures. The role includes supporting production environments, participating in an on-call rotation, adhering to DTS policies and standards, contributing to documentation, and ensuring solutions meet Vanguard's security, risk, and compliance requirements. The engineer will also participate in modernization initiatives, proof-of-concepts, special projects, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Experience modernizing legacy MFT or batch-based integrations to cloud-native architectures.
  • Familiarity with Axway B2Bi, Sterling Connect: Direct, AWS Transfer Family, or similar platforms, in hybrid or cloud (AWS/Azure) platforms.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Shell, or similar)
  • Foundational understanding of ITIL Framework and familiarity with ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Experience building or consuming REST APIs and event-driven integrations.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments (financial services a plus).
  • Exposure to observability tools (logging, tracing, metrics) in cloud environments.
  • Minimum of three years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to commute to the office (Hybrid 3 days/week)
  • Ability to work on-call rotational off hour coverage

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support cloud-based integration and data transmission solutions using AWS services and modern development practices.
  • Provide intermediate-level Data Transmission Services (DTS), including the setup, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting of external data transmissions for business clients.
  • Configure new transmissions and modify existing ones using multiple protocols and file-handling mechanisms.
  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve transmission issues and incidents, ensuring timely restoration of service in line with established service level objectives.
  • Escalate and review complex technical issues with Senior Engineers and Leadership as required.
  • Develop and maintain automation, tooling, and services that enable secure and reliable data exchange with external partners.
  • Implement solutions using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to ensure repeatable, scalable, and well-governed deployments.
  • Modernize legacy MFT and batch-based integrations toward API-driven, event-based, and serverless patterns where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal application teams, security, networking, business, and external partners to design optimal integration architectures.
  • Support production data transmission environments, including participation in an on‑call support rotation to maintain the availability and stability of critical transmission services and supporting platforms.
  • Adhere to established DTS policies, standards, and operating procedures, and contribute to the creation, review, and enhancement of documentation and runbooks where gaps are identified.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, technical documentation, and coding standards.
  • Ensure solutions meet Vanguard security, risk, and compliance requirements, including encryption, authentication, logging, and monitoring.
  • Actively participate in modernization initiatives and proof-of-concepts aligned to Vanguard’s Technology strategy.
  • Participate in special projects, and other initiatives and duties as assigned.
