About the position

The County of Yolo Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is recruiting to fill multiple, full-time positions in the class of Clinician I/II. The level of hire will be determined by the hiring manager at the time of offer. Incumbents must be registered with Board of Behavioral Science or Board of Psychology as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Registered Psychological Associate, if not licensed as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Psychologist. One (1) position will be a part of the Access Team. Mental Health Clinician works as an integral clinical part of the HHSA's Access Team, which consists of several mental health clinicians, behavioral health case managers, and peer support workers. Access Team clinicians provide intake assessments for new incoming mental health Consumers seeking services through the County's array of services and continuum of care, in addition to providing ongoing reassessments, individual and group psychotherapy and rehabilitation, and crisis intervention. Access clinicians make clinical recommendations for various types of indicated treatment and levels of care through the County continuum. Licensed waivered clinicians will be provided supervision towards the accrual for their hours of licensure, in addition to general supervision of the Consumers and cases they work with. One (1) position will be a Mobile Crisis Clinician embedded within the Davis Police Department. This position will be assigned to work with the Davis P.D. to respond in collaboration with law enforcement officers for behavioral health service calls. The Clinician will be trained to assess for and write involuntary psychiatric holds. The clinician will be housed at the Davis Police Department. Clinician will utilize a County crisis van for field response. Clinical supervision and hours towards licensure will be provided by an HHSA supervisor, but task supervision will be provided by Davis Police Department personnel. Hours are Monday through Friday (8-5).

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group counseling, therapy, and referral services to psychologically disturbed or substance abusing clients and provides consultation, information, and education to community groups, schools, and agencies.
  • Interviews clients to determine and assess client's social, psychological, legal, and personal history for purposes of formulating a clinical diagnosis.
  • Writes or dictates clinical chart notes for each patient contact.
  • Assesses client's progress on a continuing basis and makes modifications to treatment plan in order to meet client's goals.
  • Assesses presenting problem and social histories to establish a diagnosis.
  • Observes and evaluates client's progress in order to evaluate treatment plan and monitors effects of medications in order to make referral to staff Psychiatrist for further monitoring.
  • Evaluates behavioral health emergencies in order to provide appropriate referrals.
  • Evaluates for 72-hour involuntary hospitalization for clients in crisis.
  • Consults with other professional staff to provide feedback on difficult cases.
  • Participates in seminars and provides review, feedback, and guidance on treatment alternatives.
  • Researches, prepares, and delivers presentations to community groups and agencies about various aspects of behavioral health related problems.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college/university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage and Family Counseling.
  • For Clinician II: Two years of full time, professional post graduate work experience in a psychiatric social work setting or in rehabilitative counseling.
  • Possession of a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist (for Clinician II).
