About the position

The Clinical Vocational Nursing Instructor at Hallmark University is responsible for delivering class and clinical instruction in accordance with an approved course syllabus. This part-time role involves developing lesson plans, advising students, maintaining accurate attendance and grades, and ensuring compliance with clinical site policies. The instructor plays a crucial role in enhancing the learning process and supporting student success through effective teaching methods and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver curriculum following approved syllabi according to program objectives and timelines.
  • Employ appropriate instructional resources and evidence-based strategies to enhance the learning process.
  • Manage and maintain the classroom in good physical and academic order to support learning and student success.
  • Prepare lesson plans, handouts, and other curriculum-related materials.
  • Record student conferences and counseling on Corrective Action Plans (CAP) forms.
  • Work additional time weekly for individual student needs outside the classroom.
  • Attend formal and informal staff and faculty meetings.
  • Inform VN Program Director of unsatisfactory academic progress or discipline problems.
  • Comply with clinical site policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required training and orientation, including electronic health records and medication administration.
  • Direct, instruct, guide, and supervise care provided by a group of students during clinical rotations.
  • Hold student pre- and post-clinical conferences.
  • Grade written assignments and maintain accurate records.
  • Complete mid-term and final clinical evaluations for each student.
  • Provide feedback about the adequacy of the clinical site to relevant coordinators.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered Nursing License in the State of Texas
  • Minimum of a BSN degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience as a licensed registered nurse within the last five (5) years
  • Evidence of teaching abilities and current knowledge in clinical expertise and safety in subject areas of teaching responsibilities.
