About the position

The Clinical Supervising Attorney and Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School's Entrepreneurship Clinic will play a crucial role in training law students to provide legal representation to economically-disadvantaged entrepreneurs and emerging enterprises. This position involves supervising students in various transactional legal matters, ensuring high-quality client representation, and contributing to the Clinic's mission of promoting social justice through entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Clinic students in small-group and one-on-one settings.
  • Review students' legal work including research, memoranda, contracts, and client communications.
  • Provide regular feedback to students on their performance.
  • Deliver instruction in core lawyering and practice skills.
  • Ensure professional representation of Clinic clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Conduct client intake and outreach to potential new clients.
  • Collaborate with the Clinic director to shape the vision and operation of the Clinic.
  • Co-teach the clinic seminar and develop teaching materials.
  • Provide direct client representation when necessary.

Requirements

  • J.D. or equivalent legal degree.
  • At least four years of experience in transactional practice, preferably in corporate, emerging companies, venture capital, employment law, intellectual property, or technology transactions.
  • Superior writing, editing, and verbal skills.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Sound judgment and exceptional ethical standards.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and teambuilding skills.
  • Strong interest in teaching and student supervision, with experience in a clinical legal setting or mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Strong organizational and management skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • Admission to practice in California or eligibility to sit for the California Bar exam.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience advising low-income entrepreneurs and interest in entrepreneurship and economic social justice.
  • A background in business or entrepreneurship.
