About The Position

This position is a temporary, non-benefit eligible position as needed for the FVCC Lincoln County Campus in Libby, MT. The Clinical Resource Registered Nurse provides educational instruction and intervention within clinical settings and the community for nursing students.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science Nursing degree from an accredited institution
  • Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the State of Montana
  • Two years of full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse
  • Certification of skills and knowledge required for the clinical setting, such as age-specific competencies, Accucheck, telemetry, BLS.
  • Ability to maintain licensure as a registered nurse in Montana.
  • Ability to effectively teach content material.
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service.
  • Effective organizational and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of use of technology in a learning environment.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community, health care partners, and students.
  • Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC.
  • Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.
  • Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships.
  • Ability to follow and issue directions.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs student nurses in the theoretical and clinical aspects of the practice of nursing in the clinical or laboratory setting under the direction of the nursing director or faculty.
  • Consults with Nursing Program Director and faculty in developing clinical learning opportunities that meet the outcomes for the nursing program.
  • Instructs students and facilitates discussions about accepted methods of evidenced based nursing practice including professional aspects of nursing, theories of physiology and psychodynamics, assessment, nursing interventions, medical, surgical and other health treatments (such as observing and recording symptoms and applying principles of asepsis and antisepsis, etc.).
  • Interacts and collaborates with nursing service personnel to enhance learning experience in nursing unit or community.
  • Supervises care provided by a group of students (usually 6-10 students in a group) while they complete their clinical rotation in assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with the faculty to assign students to patients and observes performance in actual nursing situations.
  • Makes systematic observations and objective judgments about student performance; provides input on clinical paperwork to determine student achievement; maintains necessary records to document student progress.
  • Assists students through observational and participative experiences to apply nursing theory, the nursing process and nursing techniques in clinical settings.
  • Counsels students on educational and related problems; facilitates problem solving process; offers advice and assistance as deemed necessary with input from lead faculty.
  • Maintains and updates student and other administrative files.
  • Makes recommendations to Nursing Program Director and faculty in developing curriculum content and improved teaching and nursing techniques.
  • Promotes patient and student safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
