About the position

The Clinical Research Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) will play a vital role in the research team within the Department of Family Medicine and Population Health. This full-time position involves participating in all aspects of the research process, including recruitment, data collection, and dissemination of findings. The coordinator will work closely with senior project investigators and project staff to support the goals of the Fuemmeler Lab and the National Cancer Institute funded cancer health equity center (VA-ACCERT).

Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage primary care clinicians across Virginia for research participation.
  • Complete research activities including recruitment, screening, enrollment, and supporting patient research participants.
  • Establish standard operating procedures for all research-related activities.
  • Meet all regulatory and compliance requirements, supporting Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities.
  • Keep the Principal Investigator (PI) and leadership informed regarding study operations and progress.
  • Actively identify problems or trends in study development and recommend procedural modifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Manage day-to-day administrative duties for the project and serve as a central resource for study-related issues.
  • Complete other duties assigned by supervisor or PI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years direct experience managing study coordination and regulatory affairs for clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as tasks require.
  • Self-motivated with excellent work planning, time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Familiarity with data entry skills, including Microsoft Office and REDCap.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience working with IRB.
  • Experience or familiarity with electronic health records.
  • Prior experience implementing, developing, and/or leading research programs.
