About the position

The Clinical Research Compliance Assistant Specialist will support the Research Compliance team at SUNY Upstate Medical University in managing the Human Subject Protection Program, which includes oversight of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). This role involves administrative review of IRB submissions, providing guidance to researchers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and university policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviews of submissions to the IRB and IBC.
• Provide guidance and formal written reviews to principal investigators and study teams via the IRB submission system.
• Conduct administrative review and oversight of IRB reliance submissions for an external IRB throughout the study lifecycle.
• Ensure completion of IRB and IBC requirements, stipulations, and changes.
• Provide education and consultation to the Upstate research community regarding submission requirements and research conduct.
• Assist in developing and deploying new forms, templates, instructions, and educational programs for Research Compliance.
• Support the development and deployment of an education training program within Research Compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 2 years of applicable/related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to critically think and communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail.
