About the position

The Clinical Research Assistant at the University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Center (KU ADRC) plays a vital role in supporting clinical research activities related to Alzheimer's disease. This entry-level position involves working with multidisciplinary teams to assist in the coordination of clinical trials, including study recruitment, data entry, and regulatory compliance. The role is hybrid, requiring both onsite and remote work, and aims to contribute to impactful research and clinical care for patients and families affected by Alzheimer's disease.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting and educating potential research participants.
  • Evaluate potential eligibility for studies.
  • Conduct Informed Consent Interviews as delegated by the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for obtaining consent from participants.
  • Obtain medical records as appropriate.
  • Collect, process, handle, and ship biological specimens according to protocols.
  • Maintain certification in biological specimen handling and phlebotomy as required.
  • Assist in the collection of study data under supervision.
  • Track and document study-related activities accurately and timely.
  • Maintain adequate study supply inventory for study visits.
  • Assist with scheduling study visits and procedures.
  • Enter collected data into sponsors' electronic databases within required timeframes.
  • Respond to database queries and consult with the study coordinator as needed.
  • Assist with filing regulatory documents in Investigator Site Files.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Prior health care and/or clinical research experience.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and common medical conditions.
  • Computer skills, particularly in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Research certification such as CCRP or CCRC.
