About the position

Zoetis Reference Laboratories (ZRL) is currently seeking a full time Clinical Pathologist for our Mukilteo, WA location. Remote options will also be considered. For a remote position, a reliable internet connection with consistent download speed of at least 50 Mbps is required. Zoetis Reference Lab is a division of Zoetis Global Diagnostics. Responsibilities of this role primarily include interpretation of cytology, hematology, and protein electrophoresis testing with occasional urinalysis, chemistry, coagulation, and endocrine assessment, and case consultation with veterinarian customers. Zoetis Reference Lab clinical pathologists are also expected to participate in the organization's Quality Management System. The caseload will be a mix of glass slides and digital images from ZRL and our partner service, ZVL (Zoetis Virtual Laboratory). There is also the option to participate in creating and refining laboratory processes, contributing to educational content for customers and ZRL colleagues, and providing external continuing events, if desired. Responsibilities

  • Cytology reporting - The core focus of the candidate's role will be on comprehensive examination, reporting and consultation of cytology cases.
  • CBC and urinalysis pathologist reviews - In addition to the cytology caseload, the position requires examination, reporting and consultation on select CBC and urinalysis cases.
  • Protein electrophoresis interpretation - This position requires interpretation of urine and protein electrophoresis cases.
  • Interact positively with the local technician team, supplying feedback on hematology and urinalysis pathologist review cases.
  • Participate in the laboratory's Quality Management System by aiding in general troubleshooting, new test validation, and reporting and/or investigating non-conforming events.
  • Participate in local customer outreach and education, including creating presentation content and client education materials.
  • Occasional travel for conferences, meetings, trainings and field force events may be required.

Requirements

  • ACVP or ECVP (Clinical Pathology) board certification or board eligibility
  • DVM (or equivalent) required
  • Formal clinical pathology training - residency or graduate studies (Masters or PhD) in clinical pathology related field
  • 2-5 years diagnostic pathology experience preferred
  • 1-2 years minimum experience reading digitized slides preferred
