About the position

The position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, focusing on providing direct patient care in a community hospital setting. The RN will work 10-hour shifts on a PRN basis, with a requirement of 2-3 shifts per month, and must have prior operating room (OR) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing care standards.
  • Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on managing their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engages in professional development activities.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patients or caregivers.
  • Ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values and cultural needs.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Prior experience in an operating room (OR) setting required.
