About The Position

The Clinical Nurse I (CN I) provides direct patient care across the continuum of care while developing clinical judgment, technical skills, and professional practice. This role is designed for early-career nurses who are committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care within a collaborative, team-based environment.

Requirements

  • Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment with multiple priorities
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of nursing theory, patient safety standards, and clinical equipment
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies, alarms, and patient needs
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Educate patients and families to support understanding, recovery, and continuity of care
  • Accurately document patient care and outcomes in the electronic medical record
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to meet patient care goals
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and shared governance activities
  • Follow infection prevention, medication administration, and patient safety protocols
  • Maintain professional development through education, training, and clinical mentorship
  • May serve as Charge Nurse following successful completion of orientation and manager approval
