About the position

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) at Mission Hospital plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care within the Main Operating Room (OR). This position is designed for a registered nurse who is committed to delivering exceptional care and coordinating all functions in the unit during their designated shift. The CNC collaborates closely with other members of the management team to direct, monitor, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures. They serve as a resource for staff, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes, ultimately contributing to the overall performance of the department. In this role, the CNC is responsible for assisting with the admission and discharge processes, ensuring efficient throughput and high-quality care. They participate in ongoing assessments of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, working alongside other management team members. The CNC fosters a teamwork environment by collaborating with subject matter experts and other managers to support improved outcomes and service delivery. They are also tasked with engaging in service recovery when necessary, promoting a patient-first philosophy. The CNC supports the facility's efforts to enhance employee engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly rounds. They provide recommendations for interviewing, selecting, and training new staff, and are involved in training and development, conflict resolution, and performance evaluations. Additionally, the CNC assists with staff scheduling and manages labor in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines. They also play a role in inventory control, managing supplies and equipment effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.
  • Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
  • Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Assists with staff scheduling and manages all practical aspects of staff labor in accordance with patient care needs and established productivity guidelines.
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree must be obtained within 4 years of employment start date.
