About The Position

The Clinical Nurse C- Cardio Diagnostic Lab (CDL) practices in a Magnet Recognized tertiary academic medical center with Level One Trauma Designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification and ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center designation. Demonstrates advanced level of clinical practice in performing simple and complex diagnostic and therapeutic non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures for in-patient and out-patient populations with congenital or acquired cardiac disease. Utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) independently in accordance with LLUMC's established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as appropriate. Functions in a skills mix environment and effectively supervises and delegates tasks to a team of licensed and unlicensed staff in accordance with level of competency. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in congenital or acquired cardiac disease and diagnostic procedures. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into point-of-care practice to optimize patient outcomes. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and readily embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements. Engages in opportunities to directly and indirectly influence decision-making for point-of-care clinical practice by supporting or participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing required.
  • Minimum two years of previous ICU experience or two years previous cardiac or non-invasive diagnostics experience required.
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), certifications issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • Advanced knowledge in noninvasive cardiac procedures.
  • Solid understanding of cardiac conditions associated with healthy vs. unhealthy, pathologic heart function.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required.
  • Able to speak, read and write legibly in English.
  • Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program.
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to perform technical patient care activities.
