To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families. Essential Functions include Clinical advancement, Clinical judgment and decision making, Clinical leadership, Nurse-patient/family relationship. The role involves using systematic planning, appropriate methods, and timely exchange of information with the multidisciplinary team and patient/family to coordinate care. It requires the ability to focus on and manage multiple patient needs and aspects of care, actively communicate with the care team, and utilize available resources to problem-solve. The nurse will apply the nursing process and critical thinking to provide individualized, goal-directed patient care consistent with current safety standards, identify actual/potential problems, continuously evaluate interventions, and collaborate with patients, families, and team members to develop a comprehensive plan of care. The role also includes acting as a preceptor/teacher, implementing safe and efficient care for patients with complex needs, documenting per guidelines, delegating and assigning care, assessing physician orders, assisting coworkers, and establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Age-appropriate patient education and coordination of transfer and discharge planning are also key responsibilities. The position requires independent performance of the nursing process, safe nursing care for complex situations, competency in unit skills, coordination of patient care, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
