About The Position

The Clinical Manager - Ortho/Neuro (MedSurg) position is at Piedmont Eastside, a Joint & Spine/ Neuroscience Unit (Med Surg 3) specializing in acute CVA’s and TIA’s, along with post-operative care of knee, hip, and spinal surgery patients. The unit also handles all types of medical/surgical patients. This role involves administrative and operational responsibility for assigned departments, including management of cost and finance, human resources, operations, quality of care and clinical outcomes, patient/physician and staff satisfaction, and change management. The Clinical Manager serves as part of the entity management team and Shared Governance Model, promoting the mission, vision, and values of PHC and Nursing Professional Practice. A key responsibility is succession planning, identifying talent, and providing support, education, and resources to grow future nursing leaders. The role may require assisting in staffing to provide clinical care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of nursing experience in a hospital (inpatient roles) or clinical (outpatient roles) setting
  • At least one (1) year of relevant leadership experience
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • Acute Care Hospital/Leadership experience highly preferred
  • ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date)
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred
  • PALS Certification
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – prior to independent chemotherapy administration
  • PEARS or PALS Certification
  • NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily operations directly impacting patient care and the delivery of customer services.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and culture, promotes excellence in customer care, and manages quality patient care and quality patient outcomes.
  • Coordinates quality initiatives and process improvement strategies that improve unit-based and hospital-based scorecards.
  • Oversees planning, growth, and strategic initiatives for assigned departments.
  • Facilitates the process for the provision and documentation of personalized care based on the patients’ identified care needs, utilizing best practice standards to improve the Patient care experience.
  • Manages cost and finances, and together with the Director, is responsible for creating and managing the annual budget and specific targets, maintaining a reconciliation process to ensure revenue is captured.
  • Manages and mentors Human Resources, keenly aware of efficiencies and maximizing productivity.
  • Manages Patient/Physician/Staff Satisfaction.
  • Collects and analyzes data to improve performances.
  • Manages, implements, and effects change.
  • Maintains readiness for regulatory inspections.
  • Maintains clinical/technical proficiency and may provide direct patient care.
  • Provides direction to staff, collaborates in decision-making, and encourages staff participation at all levels to meet unit-based objectives.
