About the position

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II, you are responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, maintenance of complicated instruments, and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs. In this role, the Certified Medical Technologist II performs specimen processing and testing independently to include moderate and high complexity testing. Analyzes test results and assumes accountability for accuracy. Understands, performs, and practices preventive maintenance on equipment; troubleshoots and takes corrective action. Demonstrates pro-active problem-solving skills to include identifying a problem and taking appropriate action; knows when to seek guidance to complete troubleshooting protocol. Understands, performs, and practices quality control management to include running controls, evaluating data, documentation of data, and taking corrective action as required. Communicates any relevant QC information to Supervisor or Manager. Anticipates and evaluates need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology in terms of customer need, cost benefit and revenue generation, and informs management about findings. Assures compliance with accrediting agencies. Acts as a resource to customers both within the department and outside the department. Manages assigned projects to include developing a plan, coordinating necessary resources, setting project timelines, keeping Manager informed of progress, and completing project within established time limits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with 15 years of clinical lab experience.
  • Associates Degree with minimum 2 years experience in Clinical Lab setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree required with clinical lab experience preferred.
  • One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT). Certification is waived for those with 5 years of lab experience.
