About the position

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) position involves supervising the routine activities of a laboratory or a specific laboratory section. The role ensures adequate staffing and timely performance, recording, and reporting of tests in accordance with quality standards. The CLS will assist with staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, and payroll, while also implementing quality assurance programs and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the work of assigned subordinates engaged in various phases of testing.
• Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
• Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel.
• Assists in the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees.
• Develops policies and procedures related to the laboratory, staffing, and scheduling.
• Communicates and escalates staffing issues or other concerns to management in a timely manner.
• Monitors the inventory system to ensure necessary supplies are available.
• Implements quality assurance programs and maintains compliance records.
• Reviews quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
• 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
• Valid Medical Laboratory Scientist Certification.
