The Clinical Laboratory Assistant with Phlebotomy Experience plays a crucial role in the Laboratory Department at Methodist Hospital. This full-time position involves processing specimens, performing routine laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities
- Processes specimens for the section, including preparing blood smears and body fluid slides.
- Centrifuges specimens and streaks microbiology plates.
- Prepares specimens for transport to reference labs.
- Independently performs specimen processing and testing, including moderate complexity testing.
- Sets up instruments and performs basic equipment maintenance.
- Performs basic quality control and collects quality assurance data.
- Handles clerical duties such as answering telephones and communicating verified test results.
- Types procedures, performs data entry/retrieval, and files paperwork and slides.
- May perform phlebotomy, point-of-care, and waived testing as designated.
- Ensures compliance with laboratory regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- Experience in a Clinical Laboratory is preferred.
- Must have experience in pediatrics and neonatal care.
