About The Position

Under limited supervision, performs advanced repair, maintenance, calibration, and installation of complex patient care and clinical engineering equipment. Supports project-related work and helps ensure all medical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment in a hospital environment required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting physiological monitoring equipment preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clinical staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Working knowledge of biomedical systems and related technical trade areas.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and active listening skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications.
  • Self-motivated, professional, and results-oriented with a high level of integrity.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with the capability to analyze complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Biomedical Equipment Technology or a related field preferred
  • Completion of a military biomedical technology program may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting physiological monitoring equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and calibration on a wide range of biomedical and patient care equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and departmental standards.
  • Respond to service requests and resolve equipment issues in a timely, safe, and effective manner.
  • Install, maintain, and support diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, including electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards by accurately documenting inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs while identifying and mitigating safety risks.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for repairs or services outside internal capabilities.
  • Maintain and manage tools, testing equipment, and service resources to ensure operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to support equipment functionality, proper usage, and minimized downtime.
  • Assist in the evaluation, testing, and recommendation of new or demonstration equipment purchases.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, technical documentation, and safety files in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide basic education and training to staff on equipment operation and safety.
  • Respond to urgent service calls and support departmental operations as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
