About the position

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) plays a vital role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of bedside nurses, promoting excellence in evidence-based nursing practice. This position involves collaboration with nursing leadership to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs aimed at improving nursing competencies and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provides educational activities aligned with the organization's mission and values.
  • Collaborates with nursing staff to identify necessary changes in nursing practice based on evidence and care environment.
  • Acts as a clinical expert in pediatric nursing practice.
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates orientation programs in partnership with charge nurses.
  • Identifies and educates nursing preceptors in collaboration with nursing leadership.
  • Encourages staff development through individual coaching to help them reach their full potential.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles to provide educational activities that support professional development from novice to expert.
  • Implements evidence-based strategies to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes.
  • Educates staff on new products and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes critical thinking skills among staff by encouraging independent problem-solving.
  • Works with Nurse Managers to support staff in clinical practice and achieve professional goals.

Requirements

  • BSN required; Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pediatric nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuing education and professional development.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices relevant to patient care.
  • Specialized skills in operating and monitoring complex medical equipment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of nursing theory and Family Centered Care practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior nursing management to ensure quality care and resource management.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Previous experience in a clinical educator role.
