About the position

The Clinical Education Specialist (RN) in the Emergency Department at Doctors Community Medical Center is responsible for promoting the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care through expert clinical education and professional development. This role involves collaboration with the leadership team, clinical education team, and clinical staff to plan and implement organizational and departmental goals, fostering a climate of innovation through role-modeling, consultation, research, and facilitation of learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional support to internal and external customers that meet the needs of their diverse age and cultural backgrounds.
  • Acts as a resource for staff members.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess the need for, plan, implement and evaluate high-quality, cost-effective educational programs for staff.
  • Maintains educational records.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates orientation programs for new staff.
  • Assists in the development of competencies for clinical staff.
  • Collaborates with other departments/nursing areas to ensure consistency and to avoid duplication.
  • Promotes the advancement of nurses by offering a variety of learning opportunities planned for nurses in different stages of the Novice to Expert continuum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Nursing Professional Development Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of three years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Emergency department experience is highly preferred.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
  • Specialty Certification required.
  • Professional Organization Membership required.
