About the position

This position functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team and participates as a knowledgeable resource in the planning of the dietary needs of the individual. This position will complete Nutritional Assessments, consultations, develop special meal plans, calculate tube feedings, complete Care Plans, MDS documentation in MDS 3.0, complete documentation in Dietary Computer System (currently Blueprint) within established deadlines and other duties as assigned. Reporting will transition to Electronic Health Record entries. This person will also serve as an integral member of the Dysphagia Team. The Dysphagia Team determines diet and fluid consistencies and appropriate mealtime strategies for our individuals. Position will attend department meetings as assigned to ensure resident care is achieved. Will develop, implement and follow-up with nutritional plan of care. Contact with individuals in case load to determine feeding skills and nutritional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Nutritional Assessments and consultations.
  • Develop special meal plans and calculate tube feedings.
  • Complete Care Plans and MDS documentation in MDS 3.0.
  • Document in Dietary Computer System (currently Blueprint) within established deadlines.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Dysphagia Team.
  • Attend department meetings as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have licensure with the State of NC as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and computer skills.
  • Ability to assess, design, and implement nutritional care plans for individuals.
  • Skills in teaching, diet counseling and communicating for patient education.
  • Considerable knowledge of principles of normal/therapeutic nutrition and ability to apply the knowledge for nutritional treatment of specific diseases.
  • Ability to assess, plan, counsel and direct nutrition care based on accepted principles/practices of nutrition and dietetics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in foods and nutrition or a related area from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a clinical dietary setting.
