About the position

The Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor and Academic Director for the Physician Assistant Program at Fairleigh Dickinson University is responsible for overseeing the Didactic Phase of the PA Program. This role includes providing instruction, analyzing student performance, and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the program. The position requires collaboration with faculty and active participation in curriculum development and evaluation, as well as student advising and committee involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the Didactic Phase of the PA Program.
  • Prepare syllabi and learning objectives for all courses in the Didactic Phase.
  • Analyze didactic courses for appropriateness of structure, sequence, and content.
  • Schedule didactic courses and coordinate the distribution of lecture hours.
  • Prepare and review exams, collaborating with faculty in test construction and item analysis.
  • Monitor student progress and provide necessary interventions.
  • Analyze didactic curriculum outcomes for review at committee meetings.
  • Review student evaluations of courses and faculty for committee meetings.
  • Participate in clinical site visits as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in PA committee meetings and program activities.
  • Serve as Chair of a Committee, developing agenda and preparing minutes.
  • Participate as faculty leader in service-learning events.
  • Attend professional conferences representing the PA Program and the University.
  • Participate in designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student performance and monitor progress.
  • Participate in the selection process for PA Program applicants.
  • Participate in the remediation process for students needing additional support.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor for PA students, providing counseling and intervention.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of the program's mission statement and goals.
  • Assist in the self-study process and evaluation of the program for accreditation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years clinical and/or teaching experience, 5 years preferred.
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program, with a Master's degree (MS, MPA, MPH) or Doctoral degree (preferred).
  • NCCPA Certification required, with eligibility for New Jersey State License.
  • Knowledge of the physician assistant program accreditation process and experiential education.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and fostering empirical research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building partnerships within the program and university.
