About the position

The Department of Leadership, Educational Psychology and Foundations (LEPF) at Northern Illinois University (NIU) is seeking qualified applicants for the anticipated position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Educational Administration with expertise in school-level leadership. The LEPF department is one of six units in the College of Education at NIU and offers four administrative degrees: M.S.Ed., Principal Preparation; M.S.Ed., Chief School Business Official; Ed.S., Superintendent Preparation; and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. NIU is committed to maintaining its current position as the region's premier preparatory institution for educational administrators and offering state-of-the-art programs to working professionals in a variety of delivery modes. Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate courses in school and district leadership, supervisory behavior, organizational theory, and/or the principalship
  • Supervise graduate student interns
  • Collaborate with school districts and professional associations both regionally and nationally
  • Seek external research funding

Requirements

  • Professional experience as a principal and/or educational administrator in a PK-12 setting
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supervising graduate student candidates
  • Successful experiences with assessment report writing; knowledge of state and national accreditation requirements
  • Hold a valid and current professional educator license endorsed for general administrative or principal or a valid and current license that is comparable to the required Illinois professional educator license endorsed for general administrative or principal.
