About the position

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) greets and welcomes patients and visitors to the clinic demonstrating strong inter-personal skills and a professional demeanor. The PSR is responsible for managing front desk responsibilities including maintaining patient flow, scheduling appointments, appropriately handling phone calls which may include entry into the E HR message center, validating insurance eligibility, entering demographics, insurance, and other pertinent information into the clinic and hospital patient accounting systems, and determining and collecting time of service payments and/or past due balances at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors to the clinic.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities including maintaining patient flow.
  • Schedule appointments and handle phone calls.
  • Validate insurance eligibility and enter demographics and insurance information into systems.
  • Determine and collect time of service payments and/or past due balances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of office or customer service experience required, preferably in a medical office setting.
  • Completion of an Administrative Assistant Diploma is acceptable.
  • Typing speed of 35 words per minute preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact diplomatically.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
