About the position

The Clinic Assistant at the University of Georgia's Gynecology Clinic provides direct supportive patient care under the supervision of nurses and clinicians. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient treatment and care, while also managing clinic supplies and performing administrative tasks to facilitate clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to patients within scope of practice
  • Directly assists clinicians and nurses in treating patients
  • Obtains chief complaint, brief history, appropriate vital signs, current medications, and allergies
  • Documents patient information clearly and accurately
  • Recognizes abnormal findings and urgent problems and seeks appropriate assistance
  • Anticipates special supplies and equipment required for visit
  • Takes clinical photographs to add to PnC documentation
  • Assists clinician with exam and treatments, including sterile procedures and chaperoning
  • Reemphasizes patient education within level of expertise
  • Ensures patient and staff safety at all times
  • Completes all assignments and procedures in a safe and efficient manner with minimal supervision
  • Monitors and maintains clinic supplies, equipment and exam rooms
  • Understands and adheres to infection prevention responsibilities in patient care and in clinic support functions
  • Maintains clean and stocked exam and procedure rooms
  • Maintains supply and utility rooms, monitors equipment, tanks, and solutions
  • Provides clerical and secretarial support for clinic functions as needed to facilitate patient flow
  • Schedules appointments accurately and appropriately

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate
  • Successful completion of an appropriate training course (preferred)
  • Related clinical experience in patient care (preferred)
  • Experience with electronic practice management and health records (preferred)
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook and Word
  • Medical Office Assistant skills
