About The Position

The Client Support Specialist is a vital member of the care team at the Samuel Billings Center, providing direct, person-centered support to individuals in residential detox and recovery services. This role ensures a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment 24 hours a day — assisting clients with daily living, monitoring health and safety, and collaborating closely with clinical and nursing staff. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid NC or SC Driver's License required
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • EHR and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Problem-solving, teamwork, and dependability
  • Professional documentation and record management
  • Flexibility in a 24/7 residential environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPSS certification
  • SUD/healthcare experience
  • Minimum 2 years direct healthcare experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client-centered
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment through bed checks, room searches, UDS collections, and monitoring client behaviors
  • Search, secure, document, and manage client possessions and medications per state and agency guidelines
  • Observe and assess client physical and mental health; consult with nursing and clinical staff as needed
  • Assist clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to recovery; provide educational and therapeutic activities
  • Administer medications per provider orders (with or without a nurse, as appropriate) and provide CPR/First Aid when needed
  • Monitor signs and symptoms of substance intoxication and withdrawal; provide appropriate intervention and coordination
  • Attend shift reports and ensure effective communication across shifts regarding client care and safety
  • Complete incident reports and required documentation in compliance with state, agency, and federal regulations
  • Enter and maintain accurate client data in electronic health records; monitor documentation for compliance
  • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) activities as assigned
  • Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), skill development, and ensuring basic daily needs are met
  • Oversee food inventory including ordering, stocking, and tracking supplies to ensure availability and reduce waste
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate mealtimes according to dietary guidelines, resident needs, and organizational standards
  • Coordinate dietary preferences, restrictions, and special meal requests with residents and staff
  • Prepare and organize materials for group therapy sessions including handouts, worksheets, and visual aids
  • Set up physical or virtual spaces for group sessions to ensure a supportive environment
  • Track, store, and maintain therapeutic materials and supplies; request additional items as needed
  • Support the development of new group activities when requested
  • Complete client admissions, including drafting service plans (Credentialed Staff only)
  • Facilitate client transitions, referrals, and discharges including follow-up documentation (Credentialed Staff only)
  • Conduct intake screenings and ASAM assessments (if trained and qualified as a QP) to determine appropriateness for admission (Credentialed Staff only)
  • Provide peer support services promoting recovery, self-determination, wellness, and community living skills (Credentialed Staff only)
