About the position

The Classroom Manager/Multi-Media & Event Specialist at Georgetown University plays a crucial role in supporting the teaching needs of faculty by ensuring that all necessary technology, instructional materials, and classroom services are available for academic programs. This position is responsible for maintaining a conducive learning environment in General Purpose Classrooms (GPCs) and coordinating the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teaching, learning, and research needs of faculty, students, and staff in the classroom setting.
  • Ensure technology is properly delivered and set up for over 20,000 classes yearly.
  • Confer with faculty, students, staff, and administrators to select appropriate GPCs and teaching tools.
  • Consult with CETS staff and other service providers to enhance access to resources for teaching and learning.
  • Work closely with CNDLS to assist faculty in integrating new technology into their teaching.
  • Liaise with Library departments to ensure timely access to necessary resources for presentations.
  • Interact with other technology service providers to streamline classroom technology and media resources.
  • Coordinate with the Network Administrator/Classroom Computer Coordinator to maintain classroom computer systems.
  • Train faculty, students, staff, and administrators in the effective use of technology in classrooms.
  • Monitor classroom infrastructure and report issues to the Executive Director.
  • Elicit faculty feedback and report satisfaction or problems to the CETS Executive Director.
  • Assist in planning classroom renovations and selecting new technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; preferably in educational technology or a related field.
  • One-year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual and computer equipment in an academic environment.
  • Understanding of teaching pedagogy and the role of technology in the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an academic institution or technology service provider's environment.
  • Familiarity with web page authoring/editing software and database software.
