About the position

The Classroom Assistant Floater position at Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit is a full-time role designed to provide support across various special education programs. The assistant will cover for primary staff absences and work with K-12 students in classrooms focused on autistic support, emotional support, life skills support, and multiple disabilities support. This role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and the dynamic nature of the educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a floater para-professional for CSIU Special Education programs.
• Cover the absence of primary staff based on daily program needs.
• Work with K-12 students enrolled in various support classrooms.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students, and parents.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and students.
• Adapt to student needs and various teaching styles.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Substitute Teaching Certification.
• Applied behavior analysis experience.
• Experience working with people with disabilities.
• Experience working with people with autism.
• CPR certification required.
• Paraprofessional Certification required within the first 90 school days of employment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
