Our digital platform consolidates shipments to reduce costs, improve turnaround times, and lower emissions. With the automotive revolution underway, we serve a wide range of clients, including car manufacturers, auto dealers, auctions, and ride-hailing companies. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Claims and Risk Manager to join our team at Carpool. The Claims and Risk Manager will oversee the carrier onboarding and management of claims related to vehicle transportation, including damage, delays, theft, and liability, ensuring that the company's interests are protected while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. The role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the logistics of transporting vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of claims, from initiation and investigation to resolution and settlement.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers, customers, and third-party vendors to ensure timely and fair claims processing.
  • Review and validate claim reports, including physical inspections, evidence, and documentation, to assess the validity and value of the claims.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance providers and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of claims and ensure all claims comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Implement carrier onboarding and vetting procedures to reduce risk.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in the company's processes.
  • Analyze operational procedures to minimize the future claims and losses.
  • Implement strategies to prevent damage to vehicles and theft, and operational delays during transportation.
  • Develop risk management policies, ensuring all employees are trained on the best practices.
  • Manage relationships with insurance brokers and providers to ensure appropriate coverage for logistics operations.
  • Ensure timely renewal and adjustments to insurance policies as required by business needs.
  • Review and negotiate terms, premiums, and coverage limits with insurance carriers to protect company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to automotive transportation and risk management.
  • Prepare detailed reports on claims, losses, and risk metrics for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Advise senior leadership on trends, potential risks, and emerging issues that may affect operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding claims and risk-related inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to explain claims procedures and timelines.
  • Resolve disputes and concerns regarding claims promptly, maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to assess and mitigate potential risks in daily transportation activities.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on claims management processes and risk avoidance strategies.
  • Collaborate with the legal and finance departments to ensure consistency in risk-related decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in claims management or risk management, in the automotive logistics, transportation, or insurance industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of claims processing, insurance policies, and risk management best practices.
  • Experience working with automotive logistics operations and understanding of common risks related to vehicle transportation is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and find practical solutions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to automotive logistics and transportation.
  • Proficiency in using claims management software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and other risk management tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively manage customer relations and internal reporting.
