About the position

The Travelers Claim Intern program offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the insurance industry, focusing on claims management. Interns will receive hands-on training, learn about personal and business insurance claims, and develop skills in investigating, negotiating, and resolving claims. This internship is designed for those serious about pursuing a career in insurance, providing exposure to various aspects of the claims process.

Responsibilities

  • On-board with Travelers systems and protocols.
  • Gain exposure to personal and business insurance claims of basic to moderate complexity.
  • Learn effective strategies for investigating, negotiating, and resolving claims thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Develop knowledge of estimating damage and determining applicable coverages.
  • Assist customers through the claims process.
  • Observe the work of Claim Professionals through desk and ride-alongs with experienced employees.
  • Work with a designated coach on core assignments.
  • Complete challenging and meaningful project work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
  • Approximate work availability from June through August (10-12 weeks).
  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

  • Business Administration major.
  • Liberal Arts major (with business focus preferred).
  • Business Management major.
  • Risk Management and Insurance major.
  • Undergraduate students completing their freshman year preferred.
