About the position

The Travelers Claim Intern program offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the insurance industry, focusing on claims management. Interns will receive on-the-job training, engage with clients, assess coverage, and estimate damages while working closely with experienced professionals. This internship is designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills necessary for a future career in claims.

Responsibilities

• On-board with Travelers systems and protocols.
• Gain exposure to Personal and Business Insurance claims of basic to moderate complexity.
• Learn effective strategies for investigating, negotiating, and resolving claims thoroughly and efficiently.
• Develop knowledge of incident details, estimating damage, and determining applicable coverages.
• Assist customers through the claims process.
• Observe the work of Claim Professionals through desk and ride-alongs.
• Work with a designated coach on core assignments.
• Complete challenging and meaningful project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Fields of study: Business Administration, Liberal Arts (with business focus preferred), Business Management, Risk Management and Insurance.
• Undergraduate students completing their freshman year preferred.
