About the position

The Civil-Transportation Project Manager at Benesch is a key role responsible for leading and managing transportation engineering projects, particularly in roadway and highway design. This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders, nurturing client relationships, and overseeing project teams to ensure successful project delivery. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in civil engineering and strong project management skills, with a focus on enhancing infrastructure and community connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local management to strategize and implement project pursuits and delivery efforts.
  • Devise and implement strategies for capturing project opportunities, including teaming arrangements and strategic positioning.
  • Build and nurture relationships with both external and internal clients.
  • Supervise and guide staff to facilitate smooth design and plan development processes.
  • Engage in the design phases of roadways, highways, and interstates, overseeing projects from preliminary to final design stages.
  • Create plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure the accuracy and quality of work.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals for project pursuits.
  • Provide direct support to Project Managers and Design Leaders.
  • Effectively manage and organize project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience designing and delivering MI transportation (MDOT) projects.
  • Michigan PE required.
  • Experience as project manager or lead roadway engineer on MDOT projects.
  • Experience working with clients such as State and County Departments of Transportation, and municipal.
  • Proficient at using MicroStation and Open Roads Designer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
